We were so excited to be back at the Tri! Although the weather wasn’t ideal, we still had a great turnout with roughly 200 participants. Although at the start of the triathlon, someone dipped their hand in the water, immediately said, “I’m not doing this,” and opted to just bike and run instead! (Ed. note: Fortunately the T-Rex series now includes a duathlon option.)
On the Zero Waste team, we had Liz, Sara, Jen, and one volunteer. We set up two main stations—one between the bike area and the finish line, and another near the Little Caesars pizza food truck. We also placed several collection boxes at the water station and in transition (Bike Out, Run Out).
Everything ran smoothly, and due to the weather, not many people grabbed food—so waste was pretty minimal!
